故事梗概

在90年代末2000年初是国家重要的转型时期，那年的冬显得格外的冷。
东北沈阳一直都是我国的重要重工业基地。随着经济的发展，越来越多的企业体制都在进行改革。摇摇欲坠的某些国企经营不善，被私营企业给吞并。在这种社会环境下，大量的失业人员产生了。越来越多的国企面临破产，社会闲散人员到处都是。
这个故事就是在这种社会大背影下发生的。下岗后的张女工因被迫无奈找到了无辜的少年李强碰磁。没有经验的张女工，以为只是一次简单的事情。可是当李强被抓去警察局被打时，她才知道自己犯下了错。
李强因从小父母离异，生活自由，没人管教，结了一伙社会上的朋友。受了委屈的李强找到好友马三，马三是个讲义气的人，他一是为了帮李强出口气，另一方面是想敲诈张女工一笔。他们开始了寻找张女工，在找的过程中，反映出了当代青年糜烂的生活，同时也反映出了他们对社会的不满和反抗。
他们的目的看似是在寻找张女工，其实是在找一种生活解脱，也是在找着一份理想生活的希望。故事中的张女工同样在寻找着，她寻找的是责任压力下的解脱。让人感到可惜的是，他们选择了错误的解决方法，这样不但不能帮他们脱离苦海，反而付出了惨重的代价。他们是社会的产物，也是社会动荡的牺牲品。

Synopsis of China Youth

The period between the end of 1990s and the beginning of 2000s is significant for China’s transformation, the winter of which was extremely cold.

Shenyang, an important industrial base in Northeast China, with the wave of economy development and structural reforms in more and more enterprises, had its many state-owned but poor-operated enterprises consolidated by private ones. The social condition generated large amounts of laid-off workers, who were everywhere with the bankruptcy of state-owned factories.

The story happened in this social environment. Mrs. Zhang, a laid-off, with no related experience had to swindle an innocent youth Li Qiang, which she had thought would not make big troubles, while the moment he was arrested and hit by police, she realized she had made a mistake.

Li Qiang was youth with parent divorced, living so freely that he made acquaintance with a group of guys like himself. He turned for help from his friend Ma San after this unjust treatment. Ma San, self-thought faithful to friend, took actions to help Li Qiang, partly for revenging, partly attempting to blackmail Mrs. Zhang. They began their journey of seeking for Mrs. Zhang, in which their decadent lifestyle was barely brought to light as contemporary youth that were strongly expressing their unsatisfactory and resistance to this society.

Their goal, seemingly finding Mr. Zhang, was in fact looking for a relief, as well as for a hope of Utopian. Mrs. Zhang, at the right moment, was also eager for freedom from huge pressure of responsibility. However, to make people depressed, they all chose wrong solutions, which could not bring them out of bitter sea of life, instead make them pay a heavy price. They are the product of specific period, and also the victim of turbulent society.
